Meet our Herd: Titan

Titan, affectionately known as our "wish horse," has a truly magical story and a deep connection with both Jaclyn and Joshua.

Titan is a 16'2hh 2011 registered Friesian Sport Horse. He is half Percheron, a quarter Friesian and a quarter Thoroughbred. In fact, he is distantly related to Secretariat!

Titan first came to Jaclyn in 2016 when a fellow jouster asked Jaclyn to find and train a potential jousting horse for him. When Jaclyn met Titan, it was love at first sight! He had a magnificent jet-black coat with big puppy dog eyes and a heart of gold. In fact, the vet that did a pre-purchase evaluation on Titan, told us that if we had not taken Titan then he would have scooped him up!

Titan lived with Jaclyn for one year while going through training. During this time he was broke to ride and eventually began his joust training! This included learning to ride in armour, carry a rider with a lance, have a horse run towards him with an armoured rider and eventually hit the quintain!

After his his year of training, Titan left to be with his owner  on the west coast of the United States.

A few years later, Josh had moved to Canada and would feel a little lost when Jaclyn would head to the barn to ride Target (who was much too small for Josh to ride). During one sunny day in 2020, Jaclyn and Joshua were sitting on the balcony together, chatting about what would soon become Knight School Inc, when Jaclyn told Josh all about this amazing, talented horse that would make a great addition to the blossoming business.

The very next day Jaclyn received a text message from Titan's owner - offering Titan back to Jaclyn! The timing felt like magic!

Jaclyn and Joshua jumped at the chance to have Titan and shortly after they were all reunited.

Titan arrived on November 11, which is why we refer to him as our "wish horse," since 11:11 is often known as an "angel number" and a sign to make a wish.

When Joshua and Titan met, it was, again, love at first sight! Titan stepped off the long trailer ride from Utah, in to his forever home with Knight School, and walked confidently in to his new stall.

Since then, Titan has become one of the most dependable and reliable equine partners that we have ever worked with! Whether working hard in the dressage ring, or charging fast at the quintain, Titan is always a blast to ride!

As much as Jaclyn and Joshua love Titan, there is an even more special bond that has formed between Titan and his brother Target. Just as Target once glued himself to his big sister Java, Titan now closely follows the lead of his big brother Target.

Target quite enjoys showing his brother the rules and keeping him in line, but he also demonstrates an unbelievable amount of patience for his sweet, affectionate baby brother, who often lacks a sense of personal space. In fact, we once saw Titan gently eating hay ... directly from Target's mouth! Target simply rolled his eyes and continued munching, seemingly unbothered.

Titan has quickly trotted deep in to our hearts and we are ever thankful to his former owner for bringing us all together!
